Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts held their annual sale of North of England & Scotch Bred Mule ewe lambs on a beautiful day in the outdoor ring at Longtown Auction on Tuesday 15th September 2020.

A great show of mule lambs came to the sale with an abundance of local and distant buyers in attendance. A sale average of £101.29 was achieved, being £24 up on the year.

Topping the sale was a fantastic pen of 12 bright good skinned lambs consigned by Messrs N Calvert, Greensburn, West Hall realising £152 with their run of 144 averaging £125.

The directors, auctioneers and market staff thank all vendors and purchasers new and old for their continued support at this difficult time.

A strong show of all breeds of shearlings sold to blistering rates, especially for Cheviot Mules and Texel breed sheep. Topping at £205 for Texels consigned by E & A Graham, Upper Mains and Cheviot Mules to £200 on two separate occasions consigned by Messrs D Wilson, Marwhirn & IHG Warden, Skelfhill respectfully. Ewes of all classes also sold to vendors advantage meeting a brisk selling trade.
