Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report
C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 6,567 store lambs and feeding ewes at Longtown on Tuesday 3rd November 2020.
With more buyers present and a better quality show of lambs forward, trade was fierce from start to finish with all classes selling at extreme rates, with 191 lambs selling over £90 to a top of £130, £129 and £121 for Beltex from Ridsdale, others £109, £106 and £101 Blakelaw. Texels to £100 Buteland, £97 Gillalees, £95 Sleetbeck and Townfoot (Rutter); Suffolk £89 Priesthaugh, £81 Geltsdale; Charollais £87 Greensburn; Greyface £81 Buteland, £80 Low Stokoe, £79.50 Weeds; Zwartbles £80 Morven; Cheviot Mule £78 East Redford Green; Swaledale £63 Hesleywell.
Feeding ewes to £138 and £113 for Texels from Halfway House, others £109 and £107 Townfoot (Rutter), £107 Upper Tofts. Hill ewes to £67 for Cheviots from Waterhead of Dryfe. Cast rams to £57 Woodlands.
Cheviots (1,516) another good trade with Northies to £92 and £85 Whiteknowe, others £87 Weeks. Hill Cheviots to £77 Cooms, £71 Priesthaugh and Drumlanrigg Mains, £70 Granton and Hopsrig.
Blackfaces (2,142) another outstanding show sold at very high rates to a top of £80 and £76 Glenmanna, £79 Wanwood Hill, Allensgreen and Prospect House, £77 Collinbank, £75 Harden and Allensgreen.
