Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report
C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 1,196 store hoggs and feeding ewes at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 16th March 2021.
Store hoggs were in short supply and met a terrific trade with all classes short of requirements.
Top of £135 for Texels from Allfornaught, others £131 Kelsocleugh, £127 New Hope and Parknook, £126 Newham Hagg; Beltex £133 Kingside, £125 Rose Cottage, £123 Crookston; Charollais £133 Allfornaught; Dutch Texel £123, £119, £118 High Fell (Bell); Hill Cheviot £119, £101 Glendearg; Easycare £114, £99 Chatton Park; Greyface £113 Swinside; North Country Cheviot £111 Kelsocleugh; Suffolk £107 Hallrule Mill, £101 Swinside; Cheviot Mule £105, £100 Errington Farm, £101 Oliver Road; Blackface £105 Kingside, £103 Glendearg; Shetland £95 Kingside; Leicester £94 Swinside; Swaledale £93, £87 Coatlith Hill.
Feeding ewes still very dear to a top of £95 for Lleyns from The Height; Greyface £91 Hamburn Hall; North Country Cheviot £89 Kingside. Hill ewes to £65 for Cheviot from Glendearg; Swaledale £53 Hamburn Hall. Cast rams to £105 for Dutch Texel from High Fell (Bell) with Hill Cheviots to £95 Ramseycleuch.
In lamb ewes easily sold to £148 for Texels and £140 for Greyface from Eastfield of Wiston.
