Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts had forward another great entry of ewes and lambs for their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 4th May 2021. With buyers present from Scotland, England and Wales, thus ensuring everything was well bid for, selling to a top of £102 a life for a Texel shearling with twin lambs from Messrs Hickson, Homilton, closely followed for a pen of 13 correct below North Country Cheviot ewes with twin lambs selling at £98 per life (£294 per outfit).

Included in today’s sale was the annual show and sale of hoggs with lambs, a great entry of quality outfits was forward selling to a ring full of customers, all madly keen for sheep with many going home well short of requirements. Top of £132 per life from Messrs Nicholson, Cobble Hall Barn for their 2^nd prize pen. The show was ably judged by Jack Muir, Cleughbrae, results are as follows;
