Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts had forward an exceptional entry of both ewes and hoggs with lambs at foot at their weekly sale of breeding sheep on Tuesday 18th May 2021, with all classes surpassing local centres.

Today saw our main show and sale of hoggs with lambs at foot, with our judge Michael Lawson spending much time deliberating all three classes - results are as follows.

Top price of the day was for an exceptional pen of Beltex x Texel hoggs from Messrs Carr, Little Bavington, whose 3rd prize pen sold at £160, with other pens selling to £148, £146, £142 from this good home. Tom Neill, Upper Tinwald sold at tremendous run of Texel x hoggs with Beltex x lambs with these topping at £155 for his 1st prize pen, with other hoggs from this home selling at £148, this left him with the top average of £150.33.

Older ewes sold to a much-improved trade, selling to a top of £113 a life for a Zwartbles ewe with twin Dutch Spotted lambs from G McGregor, Longrigg.
