Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their end of season sale of ewes and hoggs with lambs at foot on Tuesday 22nd June 2021. A tremendous quality entry of sheep with the trade of the season witnessed, eclipsing all centres for both trade and quality.

One of the many highlights of the sale was the run of Texel x sheep from Messrs Browell, Quarry House, Hexham, who led the price per life at £150 for a Texel x hogg and lamb; who also sold shearlings and twin lambs at £144 (£432 per outfit); hoggs with twin lambs at £134 (£402 per outfit); and aged ewes at £130 (£390 per outfit).

Robbie Muir, Low Stanley, Towlaw sold his great run of commercial hoggs and lambs to £134, £126, £24 and £123 to an average of £113.47 for 172 lives, this being £24 up on the year.
