Longtown Store Sheep Sale Report
C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 3,623 store lambs at their weekly sale on Tuesday 3rd August 2021 at Longtown.
A top-quality show of lambs attracted the usual buyers, a total clearance was easily effected led with lambs still good to sell throughout the sale, at less money on the week.
Top £122 for Texel ewe lambs from G Mitchinson & Sons, Gallowberry, who sold other pens at £114. Store lambs sold at £106 for Beltex from High Aketon, others to £105 Causey View, £100 Sorbie; Texels to £108 from Gallowberry, others to £97 Middle Farm, £90 Causey View; Suffolks to £87 Hullerbank, £84 High Keenley Fell, £83 Roanstree & Station Road; Cheviot Mules to £87 & £79 Gillesbie, £76 Bradley; North Cheviots to £77 Hownam Grange, £73 Kelsocleugh, £71 Cumstone; Kerry Hills to £84 Rowanburn; Greyfaces to £77 Smiddy Hill, £73 Softley, £70 Stone Hall; Zwartbles to £75 & £72 Rowanburn; Leicesters to £71 Station Road.
Breeding ewes, a small selection sold extremely well, to a top of £125 for Suffolk shearlings from Barr Hill, who also sold Texels to £108 & £100 and Blackfaces to £90. Breeding ewes sold to £88 for Hill Cheviots from Glebehead.
