Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 5,157 store lambs and feeding ewes at Longtown at their weekly sale on Tuesday 23rd November 2021.

A very good show of lambs attracted the usual buyers, trade was strong throughout, with all classes easily maintaining last weeks high rates.

Top £120 for Texels from Messrs Davies & Partners, North Synton, Ashkrik, Borders, others to £119 Shield Farm, £118 Gillalees & Routin Lynn; Beltexs to £117 & £115 Shield Farm, £115 Cleughead; Suffolks to £120 Routin Lynn, £117 Shield Farm, £116 Kirkton Hill; Charollais £112 & £109 & £107 Moss Side (Baxter); Greyfaces to £116 Cragg, £110 & £109 High Loveladyshield, £108 & £106 Old Police House; North Cheviots to £101 Kirkton Hill, £98 Gilston.

Hill lambs sold for £100 for Blackfaces from Blackburn, others to £95 Merkland, £91 Lane Head & Merkland & The Lamperts. Cheviots to £93 Blackburn, £91 Over Cassock, £88 Ramseycleugh & Milsington; Lleyns to £100 Dolpinston; Swaledales to £55 Whitfield Estate.

Feeding ewes (611) another strong trade.
