Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

BREEDING SHEEP

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had a larger show of ewes with lambs at foot on Tuesday 17th May 2022, with the dearest trade of the season, with customers from as far as Campbeltown and Cheshire around the ringside with a huge contingence of local customers. Ewes and lambs topped at £135 a life for a pair of great Texel ewes with single lambs from Messrs Main, Byers Farm. Many more required.

Hoggs and lambs met an animated trade throughout with centre records being well and truly smashed, selling to a top of £2,250 per outfit for a pedigree Dutch Spotted hogg with twin lambs at foot selling to Walby Farm Park, followed by its stable mate at £620 per life or £1,860 per outfit.

Judging today’s classes was MJ Lawson, Pasture House, who commended the show of hoggs placed in front of him.

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had a seasonal sale of store hogg and feeding ewes at their weekly sale.

Trade was as good as ever. Top £88 for Cheviots from Archbank. Feeding ewes to £170 for Texels from Townfoot; Greyfaces to £107 Moss Peteral; Cheviots to £100 Archbank.
