Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 2,069 store hoggs and feeding ewes at Longtown on Tuesday 25th April 2023. A bumper entry of store hoggs sold to the same extreme rates seen in previous weeks.

Topping todays sale was a strong pen of 9 Texel hoggs consigned by Messrs Kellett, Errington, Hexham, who also sold others to £144.

A small show of 147 feeding ewes, also met spirited bidding and sold to vendor advantage.

A much larger entry of ewes with lambs sold to a keen ringside of customers, with again strength being the trade of the day. Selling to a top of £130 a life again from Billy Bell, Kinninghall for a Suffolk x gimmer with strong Texel x lamb at foot. Matthew Watson, Four o Boot sold a run of 37 Mule shearlings and lambs to a top of £98 twice for singles and twins, with others to £96, £89 (x2).
