Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report
C&D Auction Marts held their weekly sale of ewes and hoggs with lambs at foot at Longtown on Tuesday 16th May 2023.
A fine show of 2190 ewes and hoggs with lambs at foot were presented forward to a full ringside of purchasers quality lots sold to surpass vendors expectations whilst some weathered sheep proved slightly harder to place.
Included in the sale was the 2nd Prize show and sale of hoggs with lambs at foot. Ably judged by Mr Tom Magnay, Galleywreay, whose awards are as follows;

With out the show pens of hoggs topping the sale was a single Suffolk cross texel hogg with an outstanding beltex lamb at foot consigned by M/s JR & CJ Ward, Whitstonehill. To realise £158 per life (£316). M/s D Carr & Son, Highwood farm, Hexham sold a very sharp pen of 10 texel cross hoggs (ex-Cheviot Mule) with single lambs at foot to realise £154 per life (£308) selling to returning customers.
