Longtown Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward a catalogued entry of 5,353 breeding sheep at their sale at Longtown on Wednesday 11th October 2023.

3,758 hill ewes, shearlings and ewe lambs, topping at £170 for a eleven Park type North Country Cheviot shearlings from Dykefield, who also topped the Blackfaces shearling class at £135, for a pen of Hexham type gimmers. Herdwick Gimmers finalise at £110 from Ulzieside.

1,595 lowland ewes, shearlings and ewe lambs, topping the Mule ewe lamb section for a pen of forty from Guise farm realising £136, Continentals topped at £145 for two beautiful Blue Texel ewe lambs. However top of the shop today was a pen of nine fantastic Texel x shearlings finalising at £205 from Craig Farm. Following closely behind were a pen of tremendous Suffolk cross shearlings coming to £190 per head from Hemscotthill.
