Longtown Store Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 5,568 store lambs and feeding ewes at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 14th November 2023.

Another good show and plenty of buyers around the ring, trade very good, all classes easily maintaining last weeks high rates.

Top £125 & £119 for Texels from Cragg Farm, others to £120 & £119 West Farm, £117 Clarghyll; Beltex to £112 & £105 Kirkbride Farm; Suffolks to £116 Falnash, £110 Waterhead of Dryffe, £109 Cragg Farm; Greyfaces to £115 Hillbrae, £103 Lilburn Estate, £102 Cowburn; Zwartbles to £94 & £93 West Farm; Cheviot Mules to £87 Kirkbride; Leicesters to £85 Shepherds Cottage; Herdwicks to £58 Southdean Lodge; Swaledales to £57 & £53 Lilburn Estate; Hampshires to £82 Moorfield.

Feeding ewes (417) short of requirement. Top £113 for Texels from Beckstones; Greyfaces to £79 Wooplaw; Suffolks to £70 Low Craiglemine; Romneys to £86 Meiklebob. Hill ewes to £78 for Blackfaces from Spadeadam, who also sold Cheviots at £70; Herdwicks to £63 West Farm, Swaledales to £60 Lilburn Estate. Cast rams to £82 Whitchester.
