Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report
C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 4,443 store hoggs, feeding ewes and cast rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 6th February 2024.
A larger entry of hoggs attracted buyers from Norfolk, Devon and Wales, trade as expected was the best of the season many more could have easily been sold. Top was a record price for this centre of £170 for a Beltex hogg from Stephen Bell, Lough Head, Todhills, Carlisle, others £148 (x2) Glenzier Farming, £137 Fairnilee Farming Partnership.

703 Inlamb ewes were forward, topping the sale was a fantastic Beltex cross ewe scanned twins from CL Wylie & Son, Baldrydie Farm, realising £300. Beltex cross gimmers topped at £290 also from CL Wylie & Son, Baldrydie Farm. Inlamb Hoggs topped twice at £160 from D Story, Greenburn for a pen of 15 and 10 Texel cross hoggs.
