Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C & D Auction Marts held their weekly sale of 8,348 Store Lambs on Tuesday 24th  September 2024.

A mixed show of store sheep forward on the week. Longer keep lambs seen to be dearer on the and a shortage of short keep lambs forward met a buoyant trade topping the sale with a tremendous pen of Texel x lambs from C Mcgahan, Barquhar realising £143.

With a show of 1743 Cheviots and 1938 Blackfaces, topping the Cheviot section was a pen of lambs from Yethouse Fields, Newcastleton realising £125. Topping the Blackface section was a pen of Blackface lambs from A & W Bell, Thomas Telford, Langholm realising £106. 

Feeding ewe coming out in force also met a brisk trade topping at £130 for a Beltex ewe from D Bell, Mosshill.

A handful of breeding gimmers forward Topped at £175 for a pen of North of England Gimmers from TJ & S Forrester, Howberry.
