Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C & D Auction Marts held their weekly sale of 4,712 Store Lambs on Tuesday 19th November 2024.

Up a gear we go again, short keep lambs in serious demand with more new faces appearing around the ring side and numbers starting to tighten up. Topping today from Mr Colin Armstrong, Blaebank was a pen of expertly shepherded North Country Cheviots realising £146. Knocking on the door was a pen of tremendously bred Suffolks from S D Allen, Ellerslea reaching £143 this fantastic run of 216 Texel and Suffolk cross lambs averaged £130 per head.

A smaller show of 561 feeding ewes forward but standing on from last weeks’ blistering trade, a Texel cross ewe topped at £134 from Meikle Whitriggs Farm. More feeding sheep could have been sold to vendors advantage with plenty of buyers still on the hunt for numbers of feeding sheep.
