Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Reports

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 3,241 store hoggs, feeding ewes and cast rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 4th February 2025.

A similar show of store sheep were forward, with a shortage of stronger sorts as vendors look to tidy up the tail ends leading up to lambing time.

Top price was a fantastic Texel ewe hogg from East Mains Farming realising £170.

Buyers continue to travel from all over the United Kingdom in hunt of numbers of store sheep here at Longtown. Many more could have been sold to vendor’s advantage.

Feeding Ewes and cast rams (215) follow on from last week’s trade with Texel ewes leading the way at £190 per head from H R C McCulloch & Co, KIlmichael Farm. Mule ewes top at £164 from Alison Mackie, Whiteside.

Breeding Sheep

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 1,118 In lamb ewes at Longtown on Tuesday 4th February 2025.  Topping the sale at £300 was a tremendous pure Texel ewe from H R C McCulloch & Co, Kilmichael. Texel gimmers topped at £280, also from Kilmichael.

A dispersal of genuine Mule ewes in lamb to the Texel tup due 26th of March onwards from 1 crop to broken mouthed topped at £235 going on to average a fantastic £206 for 252 sold from K Buckle, Brooklyn Farm.
