Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Reports

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 1,521 store hoggs, feeding ewes and cast rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 8th April 2025.

Store hoggs numbers (1,349) starting to dry up with a very end of season show on offer.  Short keep hoggs are very much still in high demand as the younger generation proved today with Rory Laing from Twislehope Farm topping the sale with three fantastic Suffolk cross hoggs realising £168.  Putting up a fight for top place today was brother Hamish Laing, Twislehope Farm with his Suffolk cross hogg making £150.

BREEDING SHEEP

Ewe and lamb numbers start to come forward.  Topping trade was a pen of Texel cross gimmers with twin Texel lambs at foot realising £132 per life from Moss Kennels.  A fantastic pen of 2 to 4 crop Scotch Mule ewes with Suffolk singles at foot reached £124 per life from W.J. & J.G. Bell, Kinning Hall.
