The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart held their Principal
Sale of Breeding Sheep when they sold 7214 head in Dumfries on Friday 26th
August 2011.
At
their annual Show and Sale of 3631 Gimmers, a large ringside of both
local and distant were in attendance. Gimmers with size and character
met a ready demand to average £147.23 (2010 £132.61)
The Show
of Scotch Mule Gimmers was expertly judged by David Stewart, Halldykes
who awarded the Gladstone Scott Memorial Trophy to M/S RJ Fry, Porterstown
selling at £205 to M/S J Jardine Fairgirth

3020 Scotch Mule Ewe Lambs forward at their Annual Show & Sale which
was kindly sponsored by Natural Stock Care Ltd. The judge Mr A McFadzean
awarded the championship to Mrs K Park & Sons, Dalpeddar Farm, Sanquhar
who showed an outstanding pen of lambs which realised £192 per
head (a Scottish Record) to the Judge . Reserve Champions were from Messrs
T & T Anderson & Son, Guelt, Cumnock and they sold for £160
per head also to the judge. Overall a selective trade prevailed with
best sorts making a sound demand. The overall average levelled at £104.80
a rise of £6 on the year.
