The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart had 876 Breeding Sheep, 702 Store Lambs and a catalogue entry of 345 Breeding Rams of all Classes at Dumfries on Friday 4th October 2013.

A Large Crowd thronged the Market Place and quality stock of all classes was well bid for.

Texel, Suffolk and Other Breeds
The Annual Sale of Rams of all classes saw trade very good for best quality rams, with anything of good shape, length and skin easily cashed. Plainer sorts harder to sell but a full ring of buyers ensured most rams found new homes, out with the Annual Sale of Blue faced Leicester’s the sale topped at £600 for a Texel Shearling from Messrs Waugh, Mitchellslacks and closely followed at £580 for a Texel from Boghouse, Crawfordjohn. Suffolk Rams peached at £520 for a Shearling from Mr Statham, Laghead follwed by £500 also for a Shearling from Messrs Martindale, Lands. Charollais sold to £420 for Shearling from Messrs Sloan, Riggheads whilst crossbreds Rams topped at £550 for a Texel x Beltex from Mr Ryder, Newton Cottages.
