Ervie Hereford Bulls Top at 7,000gns

C & D Auctions conducted the Annual 'Ervie' sale of Hereford Bulls on behalf of John Douglas and family at Mains of Airies, Stranraer.
48 Bulls were presented to a ringside of old and new, local and far travelled buyers with 100% ring clearance to average £2303 (£110,500 gross).
Renowned for being unpampered, naturally developed with Line 1 breeding Genetics, bulls were suitable for both pedigree breeders and commercial producers selling from £1800 to £7000 with Ervie bulls heading as far North as Orkney, North-East to Aberdeenshire, North-West to Argyll. Also Southern buyers were active with bulls finding homes in Anglesey, Northampton and Cumbria.
"This sale is now truly the leading Commercial Hereford Bull sale in the UK" commented Auctioneer Harry Begg.
The days sale topper was Ervie Advance 172213 sired by L1 Achiever 91151H from the Tribute family. Ranked highest for calving ease daughters, Maternal index +43 and Terminal Index +33. This much admired bull realised £7000 to Robinson Wyllie Ltd, Culbae, Newton Stewart to run with pure herd of cows.
Well travelled from Anglesey, Ervie Advance 172314 caught the eye of M/s Lewis, Salbri, Amlwch purchasing at £5200. Also sired by the highly regarded L1 Achiever 91151H from the Libby family.
The Hutton family, Buittle Mains, Castle Douglas then paid £4500 for Ervie Advance 172300 from the Gypsy family and again sired by the prolific L1 Achiever 91151H.
Ervie Advance 172216 then sold at £3400 to I Wilkinson, Inchture, Perth, from the Peaches family line and sired by L1 Achiever 131636.
Volume buyers were M/s Smith, Carlisle (8), M/s Ward, High Three Mark (8), Dourie Farming Co (10).
