57 prime cattle, 25 OTM cattle, 4,102 prime lambs and 5,096 cast ewes & rams
at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday 18th
September, 2008.
The clean cattle again met a fast selling
trade. Top price of 190.5p for a Limousin bullock from Messrs Ritson,
Swaites. Charolais 176.5p, 173.5p Hallburn.
Limousin heifers to 189.5p,
187.5p The Beeches, 183.5p Hallburn.
The OTMs saw well fleshed sorts
dearer on the week. Angus bullocks to 122.5p (£863) Scugg House,
Limousin cows 121.5p East Foreshield; Simmental 114.5p Eastfield
of Wiston; Friesian 107.5p Halltown; Holsteins 102.5p Laalsteins;
Angus 97.5p Girnwood.
A smaller show of prime lambs were forward. A full ring of buyers
ensured another steady trade with the overall sale average being
126.6p.kg.
The 3,048 lambs over 36 kilos averaged 127.5p with the
1,054 under 36 kilos averaged 123.1p. The sale was topped at 149p
for Bleu de Maines from Solwaybank and sold to £63.80 for Texels
from Messrs Dodd, The Park, Allendale. Other Texels £62.80
