7,598 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday
9th October, 2008.
All classes of clean cattle were cheaper on the week. Top price
of 183.5p was paid by Messrs Nattrass, Butcher for a Belgian Blue
bullock from WE Lockhart & Co., Faulding Cleugh. Limousins to
177.5p, 173.5p Faulding Cleugh to W Kirkup, Butcher, Longtown. Limousin
heifers to 174.5p, 172.5p Hallburn to Border Meats.
The OTMs on offer
were again heavy well fleshed sorts and maintained late rates. Top
price was 125.5p, 117.5p, 114.5p for Limousin cows from Burnfoot
on Esk, 110.5p Morley Hill, 107.5p Whiteclose. Belgian Blues 117.5p,

The prime lambs were selling to the usual ring of buyers and trade
was cheaper on the week with export trade quieter. The sale average
was 117.4p. The 4,085 lambs over 36 kilos averaged 119.4p and the
1,579 lambs under 36 kilos averaged 110p.
The sale was topped at £72.50
