The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward
56 prime cattle, 0 young bull, 25 over thirty month cattle, 1,205 spring
lambs, 1,434 prime hoggs and 4,778 cast ewes & rams at their weekly
sale at Longtown on Thursday 9th June, 2011.
An increased number of prime cattle forward met an outstanding trade
with many cattle selling from 190p to 208p which ensured all vendors
going home delighted. Prices peaked at 207.5p twice for Blonde d’Aquitaine
and British Blue heifers both from Mr A. Irving, Toppin Castle, purchased
by S. McGimpsey. Mr Irving’s run of cattle averaged 202.4p. Limousin
bullocks sold to 199.5p on three occasions twice from J.C. & D.
