48 prime cattle, 40 over thirty month cattle, 5,244
prime lambs and 6,479 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at
Longtown on Thursday 22nd November 2012.
Some better quality prime cattle on
offer met a keen demand and the
sale was topped at 231.5p for a Limousin heifer shown by R. Neill,
Upper Tinwald, others sold to 222.5p, 219.5p also from Messrs Neill
with all 3 being purchased buy Mr J. Little.

Another large show of 5,244 lambs was forward to a busy ring of
buyers. The sale average was 151.4p, which fell from a 157p average
in the first three hours when the lambs were sold bone dry. More
export lambs required to fulfil orders. The sale was topped at 203p
per kilo for Beltex from Haithwaite and to £90.80 per head

Another fine show of 6,479 cast ewes and rams were forward to a
full ring of buyers, demand was stronger for the biggest heavy ewes
and ewes well fleshed as these remain short of requirements. Large
numbers of plainer ewes and ewes having lost condition still forward
and showing no signs of rising.
