The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire
Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward 77 prime cattle, 2 young bulls, 45
over thirty month cattle, 3,210 prime lambs and 5,686 cast ewes & rams
at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday 5th September 2013.
A larger show of prime cattle forward with many more grass cattle on offer
which sold to recent rates, indoor fed cattle continued to sell at a premium
topping at 251.5p for a great Limousin heifer shown by John Blaylock, Hallburn. Bullocks
sold to 248.5p for a Limousin from Messrs Taylor, Dashwellgreen.

quality and well fleshed lambs dearer on the week, heavyweight lambs
continue to meet strong demand. Export lambs require to be
drawn harder with leaner types best sold store. Overall average

from Carran and to 224.4p per kilo for Texels from Glencartholm.
