The
Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. Held their annual
sale of breeding sheep when 8,017 were forward comprising 5,217 ewe
lambs, 2,800 ewes & shearlings at their sale on Tuesday 12th
September, 2006.
It was the main sale for Greyface mule ewe lambs
which were an outstanding show for quality giving great credit to
all vendors showing. Buyers were present from Cornwall to Thurso.
Trade was buoyant throughout the sale with averages down £4
on the year.

Continental and Cheviot Mule ewe lambs also met an improved
trade on the fortnight with best quality very dear. Top was £79
for Cheviot Mules from Barnglies, others £60 Carterton. Texels £70
Pingle.
Shearlings and young ewes also met a dear trade and were short
of requirements. Shearling sold to £81 for Texels x from Dunnabie,
