The
Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart had forward 150 store
cattle and 85 breeding cattle at their fortnightly sale on Tuesday
23rd June, 2009.
Store cattle sold to a brisk trade throughout the sale to a top
of £870 for a Charolais heifer from F.S. & L. Storey, Low
Dubwath.
All classes of breeding cattle met an outstanding trade. The ringside
was packed full to the rafters with bidders from all ends of the
country.
The highlight of the sale was the part dispersal from R.W. & M.
Carruthers, Blacksmiths Cottage who sold 11 Limousin and British
Blue x cows (born 1996-2005) with Limousin cross calves, also a Limousin
bull (2003) to average £1,530 all in and to a top of £3,250
for the bull with a British Blue cross cow with bull calf (show potential)
to £2,320.
