The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart had forward 237 store
cattle at their sale on Tuesday 27th October, 2009.
Trade remained buoyant for all classes of cattle selling to a top of £865
for a Limousin heifer from S Phillips, Netherhill. Bullocks to £860
for a Limousin from the same home.

BREEDING CATTLE
There was also forward 187 breeding cattle which included 72 bulling
heifers. Cows and heifers with calves sold to late high rates with
the best bulling heifers selling well and plainer types harder to
cash. Top was £2,200 for an excellent Belgian Blue cow and
Limousin heifer calf from RW & M Carruthers, Blacksmiths Cottage,
who also had 10 others which sold to an average of £1490.
Bulling heifer sold to a top of £860 for Belgian Blues from
J Irving & Son, The Stubb.
