The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart PLC held their fortnightly
sale of Store & Breeding Cattle on Tuesday
31st July, 2012.
The 104 store cattle were a better show of quality and saw a buoyant
trade throughout considering the poor weather. Top price of £1,090
for a Limousin bullock shown by Messrs W.T. Bendle & Son, The
Nook, others £1,015 (x2) from D. Woodhouse, Gibstown. Limousin
heifers sold to £885 and £875 from A. & D. Bell,
Mossband Hall who sold Charolais at £875.

A full ring of buyers ensured the 88 breeding cattle exceeded vendor’s
expectations. The sale was topped at £2,000 twice, both from
M.J. Irving, Braehead Farm for British Blue cows with Limousin bull
calves. Bulling heifers sold to £1,100 for Limousin from J.W.
Thomlinson & Son, Standingstone Rigg.
