Longtown Store & Breeding Cattle Sale Report
The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers’ Mart plc had forward a catalogue entry of 301 head at their Summer Show & Sale of store cattle on Tuesday 18th August, 2015 at Longtown Mart.
Due to the better weather a lot of farmers were busy in the fields, trade remains very dear which saw the sale average £90.77 up on the year. The sale topped at £1,265 for an Aberdeen Angus bullock shown by E.A. Dodd, Roanstree, then again at £1,245 from Messrs Dodd and T.H. & M.I. Huddleston & Son, The Green. Limousin heifers sold to £1,230 from D.H.S. Woodhouse, Gibstown.
Outwith the sale was a show which was kindly sponsored by Dodd & Co., and expertly judged by Mr D. Dickinson, Brockwoodlees, Canonbie. The Champion rosette was awarded to D.H. & J.M. Murray, The Throp, Gilsland for a fantastic Limousin bullock which went on to realise £1,260 and knocked down to the judge.
