store sheep ringThe Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers’ Mart P.L.C. had forward 5036 store lambs at their sale at Longtown on Tuesday 23rd September 2008.

All classes of lambs were dearer on the week. Top was £47.50 for Suffolks from Bourance of Courance, others to £44.50 High House, £43 Cumstone. Texels £40.50 Towsbank, £40 Ardconnell; Beltex £39.80 Pallet Hill; Greyfaces £40 High House, £37.80 Greensburn, £36.50 High Burnfoot; Blackfaces £31 Markdhu, £30.50 Hainings; Swaledales £18 Naddle.

Hill Cheviots (1875) were a good show and a much sharper trade. Top was £37 for Hill Northies from Whitefield & Chatto, £36.80 Quarry Lodge. Hill Cheviots £35.50 Glendinning, £35 Windyhaugh, Toftholm & Cowburn.
