store sheep ringThe Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart PLC had forward 5,004 store lambs and breeding sheep at their sale at Longtown on Tuesday 11th November 2008.

Another large show which easily maintained last weeks high rates. Top was £48 for Texel lambs from Roan Cottage, £47.80 Mossburnford; Charollais £46.20 Mossburnford; Suffolks £39.20 Ridley Farm, £38.80 Kilnknowe; Greyfaces £39.20 Hillcrest, £36.80 High House & Stelshaw; North Country Cheviots £38.50 Meiklewhitriggs; Blackfaces £39 Horseholm, £37.50 Townshield, £37 Wanwood Hill; Swaledales £22.20 Whitfield Estate; Herdwicks £24.20 Ramshope.

Tup lambs to £34.50 Williamston. Cast ewes to £31.50 Dykecroft.

Hill Cheviots (1,733) saw trade similar for stronger types. Top was £34.50 East Murton, £33.50 Browtop, £33.20 Girnwood.

Breeding sheep were still good to sell, Suffolk x £60 Maxton House; Texels £54.50 Haithwaite; Greyface £38 Dykecroft; Blackface £27 Newton; Hill Cheviot £20 Nether Pawhope.
