The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers’ Mart P.L.C. held
their Annual Sale of Breeding Sheep at Longtown on Wednesday
31st August 2011, when their was forward 3,459 head.
With an excellent
show, buyers were present from Suffolk, Anglesey and South Wales,
trade was at extreme rates and many more could have easily sold
to advantage with all averages considerably up on the year.

with best kinds keenly sought after and others proving harder to
cash early in the season. The sale was topped at £500 for
a Suffolk shearling from Fenton who sold to £450 also; Charollais £400
Riggheads; Texel £350 Woodhousehill, £280 (x2) Kingfisher
Park; Beltex £300 Harene.
A small show of Zwartbles were forward,
selling to £155 for
a shearling gimmer from Brook Farm, who also sold 2 at £150.
