After last weeks buoyant trade, The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire
Farmers Mart PLC had forward another large show of 1,034 ewes
with lambs at foot at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday
30th April.
Trade
was up and down owing to the distinct lack of grass. Strong outfits
sold easily as did younger aged shearlings and ewe hoggs, older
ewes with small lambs still proving the hardest to cash. We would
encourage people to let the lambs get a little older to meet the
market.
The sale was topped at £87 per life for pure Suffolks
with singles from Mr Boyd, Shawhill. Shearlings to £64 for
Mules with twins from H. & M. Connell, Minsca. Hoggs to £60
