STORE & BREEDING SHEEP REPORT

The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart PLC held their Second Show & Sale of hoggs with lambs, together with ewe and lambs and store hoggs at Longtown on Tuesday 21^st May 2013, when there was an entry of 1,602.

A tremendous good quality show of hoggs, with many from the Eden Valley, attracted a large company. Trade was sharper with all classes easy to sell and short of requirements.

Prior to the sale judging was ably carried out by Harry Fisher of The Beeches, Walton whose awards were as follows:-

Greyface hoggs with singles 

1^st – Messrs Ridsdale, Yewtree, sold at £98.   

2^nd – Messrs Ridsdale, Yewtree, sold at £92.

3^rd – P.M. Kidd, Briggle, sold at £94. 

Continental hoggs with singles  

1 ^st – D. Carr, Highwood, sold at £84.

2 ^nd – D. Carr, Highwood, sold at £80.

3^rd – Messrs Jackson, Reagill Grange, sold at £76.
