Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report
STORE SHEEP
C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 5,367 store hoggs, cast rams and feeding ewes at Longtown on Tuesday 28th February 2023. A very large but mixed show of hoggs attracted the usual buyers, trade was again very strong with high rates more than maintained.

Feeding ewes (444) met a very competitive trade with all classes in strong demand. BREEDING SHEEP
C&D Auction Marts Ltd were pleased to conduct two major dispersal sales at our special sale of in lamb sheep at Longtown on Tuesday 28th February. With both consignments turned out in full bloom, a large ring side of purchasers made their presence felt, with several phone bids in operation, both vendors would leave more than satisfied with their days trading.
The sale was topped by the first lot in to the ring with a pen of Cheviot Mule gimmers from R. Atkinson at £218, with other gimmers from the same home selling at £180, Cheviot Mule one to two crop ewes selling to £170 and £168 three times, three to four crop ewes selling to £150 and £148 and in lamb hoggs at £160 and £155. The entire run of 1,000 Cheviot Mules averaged £154.42.
WT Evans had forward 520 Suffolk, Texel and North of England Mule shearlings to two shear ewes, to a top of £210 for an outstanding pen of pure Suffolk aged ewes, Texel x gimmers to £180, Mule two shear ewes to £170 & £168 & £165 & £160 and Mule shearlings to £165 & £158 & £155.
