Longtown Primestock Sale Report
C&D Auction Marts Limited had forward 8,221 sheep comprising of 3,619 spring lambs and 4,602 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday 2nd September 2021.
A small entry of cast cows were forward and continued to sell at recent rates. The sale topped at 148p and £932 for Limousin cows shown by TN & F Cowan & Son, The Ash, Roadhead.
A larger show of 3,619 new season spring lambs were forward to another increased ring of purchasers, ensuring all classes of lambs were well catered for and being a very similar trade on the week.
Top price per kilo of 320p achieved for Beltex lambs shown by JA & LA Thompson, Woodhead, Scaleby.
Top price per head of £170 for Suffolk lambs consigned by HM Martindale, The Land, Ecclefechan.

A larger show of 4,602 ewes were forward which saw Mule ewes slightly easier whilst heavy ewes and feeding ewes were dearer on the week.
Heavy ewes topped at £202 for a fantastic pen of heavy pure bred Texel ewes from Messrs N Robinson, High House.
Hill ewes sold to £104 for Blackface ewes from A Murray & Sons, Sewing Shields, Haydon Bridge.
Rams to £195 for Blue Texels from M/s N Robinson, High House.
